“Before I joined GameChanger, I was mostly running and shying away from all the weight machines at the local gym. I wanted to start strength training because I knew it would help with my running but after taking a couple strength classes at the gym, in a room with what felt like 50+ people, I knew that I wasn’t going to thrive in that type of setting.
A friend of mine found out about GameChanger’s fit-mom challenge and asked me if I would join her. After my experience with the group classes at my current gym at the time, I knew I needed to try something different. I said yes but I was nervous! Nervous because I realized that my weaknesses would be on full display in a smaller setting. One week into the challenge and it was clear I had a lot of work to do but 4 weeks later, I was hooked!
With the very first workout, GameChanger pushed me outside my comfort zone and continues to do so with each and every workout, even after 4 years later! The trainers motivate you in a way that you can’t always do yourself and for that I am extremely grateful. The atmosphere at GameChanger, from the trainers to the other athletes working to better themselves, is just inspiring and addicting!
My original intention for joining was to lose some weight and to strengthen my lower body to help avoid running inquires. Not only am I less prone to injury now, I am also seeing strength gains in areas I never thought I was capable of. When I could barely do a pushup on day 1 and now I can knock out 15-20 at a time, there is no better reason to just keep going and progressing.
When I thought running a 5K was my limit but 4 years later I have run countless half-marathons and 2 full marathons, why stop now? GameChanger has helped bring out such a sense of fearlessness and determination in me.
